pieces of ourselves

Sweet

Empty, that’s being nothing, feeling nothing.

Reading the quote above though makes me wanna believe that the emptiness we feel from time to time doesn’t go to waste. If we leave traces of ourselves in everything we love, then feeling empty is worth it. But that’s not to say that being empty is okay. For if we really leave traces of ourselves to those we love, then we also get traces from those that love us.

And if that’s the case, which I’d like to believe it is, then no one will ever be empty for a long time. We just need to learn how to accept the pieces from the others, and how to give our pieces only to those who deserve them.

feelings & adventure

Strange

never-prepared-quote-adventure-Natalie Standiford

Knowing yet never being prepared is an adventure in itself. Even if you know what’s gonna happen, I think you can never prepare your feelings; I can attest to that.

Our feelings have their own life, and they create their own adventures. Sometimes they wanna play with us and sometimes they unite with our hearts. They also make us wonder at times if a certain feeling is ever ours.

It makes me think if the word ‘prepared’ really exists. Maybe it’s just an illusion to calm us down.

the people we meet

Strange

According to the quote I have read somewhere, there are two reasons why you meet people in your life: you need them to change your life or they need you to change theirs. While I don’t completely agree to the idea, it is something that will make you stop to reflect on your life and the people around you.

Since I’ve come upon this quote last year, every time I meet someone new, I think of what could their purpose be on my life. While I don’t really believe that one would be the sole reason for changing the path one takes or whatnot, I do accept that each person we let in our lives influence us and tweak us—principles, beliefs, values, opinions—which then changes us as a whole. No one is ever the same person today the way he or she has been yesterday.

Last night got me thinking and I’ve concurred that it’s very fascinating to deem that what you are and who you are is the perfect combination of all the people you meet and will continue to meet. Growing up would make you hold on to certain principles but as the time passes by, some will be shaken and destroyed and the others will be altered, which I think is essential as it makes us wiser. And also, holding on to life is much more important than being so grounded that you forget change is constant and adapting is an ability all of us must be good at.

I’m Brave (Not?)

Strange

Not friends, not enemies, just some strangers with some memories.

Every time I cut, color, or change the style of my hair, this particular man comes out of his house right when I’m about to pass the way. That particular man is my friend, or rather, was my friend. Coz now, we’re strangers. And I’m not sure whether that’s a good thing or not. What I’m sure of, however, is that it’s really brave of me to share and publish this now. The first time I talked about someone so obviously (yes, it’s already obvious for me) that he would know it’s him. If only he reads this. Which I hope not.

Speaking of brave, I think it’s fair enough for girls to say that donating 8 inches of our hair for the benefit of children with cancer is a brave (and kind) thing to do. Which I did earlier, which prompt me to write this post. Now my hair falls right exactly at my collar bone. And I have to deal with it.

Like how I have to deal with what’s going on in my life right now, and all the drama hidden behind my eyes. I have to iron it out and at least straighten some of the curls. But there will be days when you just want to leave them be and be free. From all the heat and chemicals surrounding it. I hope the time comes when I have to worry less, if not anymore, and live life the way I want it to be.

Writing 101’s Task: Hook ’em with a quote.

P.S. Sorry I didn’t elaborate on the quote and my story. It just hurts so bad. Of course, I’m kidding. Also, the last paragraph speaks true for both my hair and my life. Maybe it also rings true to you. ☼

a quote a day, 3

Sweet

It’s okay to be hurting as much as you are; what you are feeling is not only completely valid, but necessary—because it makes you so much more human.

– Lang Leav

This quote is from Lang Leav’s Broken Hearts. Even though we have reserved an unsuspected strength that comes out when we most need them, it’s still okay to be hurting as much as we are. We are not made of steel, we are not robots, we are humans. And it makes us capable of hurting or in being so much pain, but yes, that’s necessary.

When I turned 20, I found that I was more emotional, so I actually started to allow myself to cry as much as I need to when my heart is heavy. (I just did this morning.) And I think that in order for us to move on, or at least try to, we need to hurt as much first. Because now that we know how pain feels like, we will do anything not to get back on that same situation again.

Sweet

I immediately liked this quote when I first read it because my life is currently up on many tests. And it’s true that our strengths within are no joke. Some of us think that we cannot go through a particular obstacle once it arrives, but we can, and we will. I never thought that I have kept in me a very useful quality that I need in order to survive in this world. And I hope you, too, have gathered strength in your heart that will naturally come out when needed.

Strange

nymphomaniac-vol1-joe-quote-sunset

This quote was from the film Nymphomaniac by Lars Von Trier. When Joe said this, I believe it’s not just for the nymphos, but all of us who the society thinks have sinned too much. I demand more for my life. I am not satisfied with where I am currently standing. And most of you, if not all, are the same as me. We want more; we need more. And I know all of us are already sinners, but if this is the only sin, if demanding for more is the only sin in the world, I think there’ll be less pointing fingers and more comforting one another.

Count Your Blessings

Sweet

johnny-depp-quote-count-your-blessings

This quote might not be inspiring and I think it could even make someone sad. Or all of us sad. Coz you know, we could just name anything we want that we can’t have, from the silly stuff to our infinite dreams, and it would easily ache our hearts.

But that is not to say that we should be so bitter about it or very depressed. Because even though there are a lot of things that we can’t have, there are still more that we already possess. These things might just be what’s right for us at the moment. And maybe when we’re ready, absolutely ready, we could finally get our hands on those that we want.

So don’t mull too much over things that don’t belong to us. I’m sure you know how that famous saying goes right? Count your blessings. Because they truly matter. Believe me.
